The Zawadi Gift

Zawadi, meaning a gift in Swahili, is the name we have given our tea.

We call it that because Zawadi African Tea donates a portion of its profits to support the many Kenyan children whose parents have died from HIV/AIDS.

The money buys food, shelter, and clothing for the orphans via a non-profit organization called the Kenyan AIDS Intervention Prevention Project Group (KAIPPG).

Zawadi African Tea: Brew of Giving and Well-Being

tea potZawadi African Tea partners with small family tea farmers in Kenya to produce the finest black tea from the best part of the tea plant. Like fine wine, the taste of tea is a result of farming techniques, geography, and climate. The sunny tropics of the highlands above Nairobi provide the best temperatures for growing tea. Natural nutrients in the soil and tender care make a difference too.

Using a traditional Kenyan family recipe from Grandma Kihanya to make our chai tea, we blend the tea with fresh spices from Africa. One of the richest, robust, and yet smoothest teas on the market, Zawadi African Tea also makes a delicious chai latte. We offer three delicious products: jambo pure black tea, and two blends — karibu spiced tea and safari spiced tea.

Zawadi African Tea is a healthy beverage to be enjoyed any time hot or cold — in the morning, afternoon and evening. In fact, an October 2003 article "Tea — Steeped in Health Possibilities" in Great Life Magazine recommends drinking between 5−6 cups a day to keep the doctor away!

Zawadi African Tea products have a nice "pick-me-up" effect like coffee, but with half the caffeine, and full of antioxidants that offer numerous health benefits.
