Immediate Needs:

KAIPPG needs twenty-five bicycles to improve the movement of our trained community health volunteers, who visit individual households to provide home-based care to persons living with HIV/AIDS, train family caregivers, identify children in homes of patients and assess their needs, monitor drug intake, and assist clients to access support from KAIPPG.

Most of our HIV/AIDS-affected clients and children live in very remote locations which are difficult to access. Project staff have to walk long distances on very dilapidated roads to access these remote homesteads.

We need five motorcycles in order to improve our staff's mobility to remote locations and ensure effective service to the more inaccessible project sites. Administrative staff encounter huge challenges in the effective monitoring and coordination of our projects, due to lack of a supervisory and follow-up vehicle.

We need one car or other kind of larger transport, which will not only be used for monitoring of the projects but also follow-up on patients, and transportation of program clients to VCT and antiretroviral treatment centers.

In terms of ICTs, we need three photocopiers: one for our central office and the other two to be used in each of our two community-based offices. We also need sixteen computers: ten for our central office and three for each of our two community-based offices. We need five printers and three scanners.

Top of the list is that we need program and core-funding to enable us meet our budgetary requirements. Our budget for 2008-2009 is US $200,000.
