KAIPPG

KAIPPG (Kenya AIDS Intervention/Prevention Project Group) is an organization which operates in several districts in Western Kenya, addressing issues related to poverty, HIV/AIDS, malnutrition, lack of education and healthcare, human-rights, and environmental sustainability.

MISSION STATEMENT:
1) HIV/AIDS education, prevention, amelioration, and rights-advocacy
2) Addressing the needs of AIDS orphans and widows, the very poor, and other vulnerable populations
3) Provision of medical, material, and psycho-social support services to individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS
4)Development of job-skills, microcredit programs, agriculture and other nutritional activities which will help individuals and communities to cope with HIV/AIDS and develop to their full potential

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS:
KAIPPG has grown from a small, single-community base established in 1995 to an international organization with a branch in the USA and volunteers in 20 countries worldwide. In Kenya we assist a large network of community-development projects, and have had great success with our home-based care and nutritional programs. We estimate that we have provided HIV/AIDS education to upwards of one million people, and directly help 30,000 individuals and families per year. We have become partners or affiliates of numerous local, national, regional, and international organizations, and have received a number of grants and requests for materials about our work and trainings, in addition to working with foreign and Kenyan volunteers who want to assist our programs in Kenya. We are branching out now to focus on use of the arts and ICTs to address HIV/AIDS, and we are working with traditional healers in addition to becoming advocates for ARV treatment access.
